Okay, here’s my answer…
Are you ready?
It really boils down to what you feel in your heart.
Personally, I just love love love the first look. On a day when you are the center of attention, and all eyes are on you, it can be difficult to spend some time alone with your new bride or groom! The first look gives you the opportunity to calm your nerves before the ceremony, and take a few blissful moments to relax with the person you love. I’m constantly asked for ‘in the moment’ photos. This is it! This is the time when you get that reaction that can be natural and just between the two of you. These images are always very emotional and sweet photographs!
A first look is a much more modern approach to your wedding day. It usually will give us more time for photos of the two of you together, without making your guests wait between the ceremony and the reception. I find that, after their first look, the couple is a lot more relaxed, and that makes for amazingly natural photographs.
With all that being said, the first look is not for everyone! There are some couples who would much rather wait until the ceremony itself. I completely respect this decision, and it is yours to make! Your photographs will not be any less lovely than if you had chosen to do them earlier. Think of it this way…you are sharing your ‘first look’ surrounded by the most important people in your lives, the ones you invited to share your day in the first place.
I would love to hear your opinion. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
