Tessa bolted from the park, she is running across the field, I of course start yelling come back, but then I see. It’s Sydney her new best friend at preschool. Both of them are running towards each other and hug as they crash into each other. I start laughing, its a scene from a cheezy movie, but its perfect! I’m just happy she has found a friend. Over the next few classes I’m getting to know Sydney’s mom, Karen and she mentions that she noticed ‘ksphotographer’ on the email list. “What do you take pictures of?” My answer: people in love, weddings and families. I guess she checked out my website and the next day says “you are really good”. Thanks, that always means a lot! Then Karen mentions that she has never had a proffessional family photo taken. But she wants to lose 20 lbs first. My response (and always will be): “the kids don’t care, they love you for who you are and they just want to see photos of you with them when they get older”. I guess that struck a cord…she booked the next day!
This is what got me though….I send out an ‘app’ to all my clients as a sneak peak. When Karen got hers, she sent me this note:
“you captured what we have wanted for 18 years, I am welling up with tears. Thank You”
Thank You, Karen. It has been wonderful getting to know you and of course Sydney and I’m honoured that you shared the love of your family with me.
Was it 18 years ago that you had a portrait session? Call me to set up your appointment, its never too late!
